Welcome to the River Valley Farmers Market Association. With three Farmers Markets located within Bastrop County,
we provide the freshest local food available. We are a
growers-only market, meaning that everything sold must be grown and produced by the merchant selling it to you.
To get fresher food, you would have to grow it yourself...
Visit us soon and discover how good real food is!

Starting this month, a new feature: Vendor Profile, highlighting one of our market vendors.

This month’s profile is One Man Ranch, operated by Bill & Doris Patrick.

Bill & Doris Patrick have been members of RVFM since 1999. This was after Bill retired from the City of Austin Electric Department and Doris retired from Austin Community College. Bill has been a Director of the Market since 2001 and President since 2002. Doris has served as Secretary/Treasurer since 2002.

Since becoming RVFM President, Bill has secured a new location for the Bastrop Market with City Electives when the Courthouse decided to make the vacant lot into a parking lot. The present pole barns were built with him securing a lease agreement. The Elgin Market location was sold by the lawyer who owned the property and Bill signed a contract with the church that bought the property. After urgings from the Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Smithville, Bill agreed to move the Smithville Market to the new location next to the Chamber of Commerce.

Bill plants about 5 acres of corn, 3 acres of watermelons, 1 acre of cantaloupe and they have two gardens for growing all the other vegetables. Not having a well, they depend on rain. They take their produce mostly to the Bastrop location, but can be seen at Elgin and Smithville when they have enough produce. They also bring their farm fresh brown eggs and duck eggs to market.
